Rod Selection is an art. I believe it's less of an art than it use to be. When I was a kid my dad taught me how to get a deal on a rod. He had me try casting the expensive rods in the store to see how they felt. These rods cost between $150 and $200. When I got the feal of how they damped out I did the same thing with the $6.00 rods until I found one that felt like the expensive rods. Today I believe the rod manufacturing has improved to the point that the cheap rods are as good as the expensive ones. The rod guides on the expensive rods are better but I don't believe you can tell the difference in the rod. you should pay enough to feel comfortable. Some expensive rods qualify as art. If your buying art you can spend thousands but you won't get performance. The number of pieces will adversely effect performance. The rods above are arranged in order from the lowest to highest prices. I make money of the sale of these rods. The more expensive the rod the more I make. It's my belief that if you give people enough information they can makeup their minds. By telling you to get the cheaper rods I might make less on this sale but I would rather tell you the truth and get $2.00 one hundred times that $5.00 twenty times. The fishing rods above range from $20 to $350 from left to right. If your looking for a rod that you can hold up with pride check the ones to the right. If your interested in catching fish not spending money the rods on the left should work well. |
